Scooters!

Who doesn't love scooters?  I know your all jealous parents, but the children really love them too!

We have lots of fun activities planned with the scooters, such as races, team building and scavenger hunts.

I really hope your child loves this unit!

Finishing Basketball!

P.E. has been a lot of fun this past week, while the students have been scrimmaging in a 5V5 basketball game.  They have learned a lot of skills in bball and know lots of different rules of the game.  I really hoped they enjoyed this unit!

Finishing up Parachute

We had a blast playing with the parachute!  We exercised a good amount too while strengthening our arms and our legs.  We also did a lot of cardio with the parachute.  We also went under the circus tent to tell fun stories.

Now we are moving on to basketball!  Our first week we will learn how to pass the basketball correctly to a partner.  There are four types of passes we will be working on.  Bounce pass, chest pass, rainbow pass and baseball pass.

The kids will have lots of fun next week!

Volleyball

Hello!

We have done bumping, setting and spiking right now.  Next week we will be doing serving over the net and full volleyball games to end the unit!

My students are having a blast spiking the ball over the net into hula hoops.  Its a game called Battleship where one team is trying to spike the ball into a hula hoops.  There are six hoops.  If one team gets a spike in all six hula hoops then they have sunk the other teams battleship!  It is so much fun!!!

Best,

Proper Shoes

Hello,

Please have tennis shoes or sneakers on P.E. It is so important to keep our kiddos safe!!!  Minimal support, no arch, no forefront support which can lead to shin splints and plantar issues.  PLEASE have your child wear sneakers on P.E. day!  Let's keep them safe!

Thank you so much!

Welcome Back Students!!!

Hi,

I am Coach Rubino, and I have been with Great Hearts for 9 years now!  I am originally from New York, Long Island, and moved here in 1997, my Senior year of High School.  I then went on to attend Auburn University on a scholarship to play soccer.  War Eagle!

I love being a Physical Education teacher; it truly fulfills me.  I love my students and am fulfilled everyday knowing that I have taught them something.  I incorporate the virtues in each and every lesson as well.

This year we have added many things to the curriculum such as dance and gymnastics.  We also bought 30 scooters and mini golf equipment!  We will have a fun filled year!

I am so excited to see our students this coming Monday!  I cannot wait to see their smiling faces and I cannot wait to start teaching them so many physical activities!!

See you all on Monday!!!

Sincerely,

Coach Rubino

Dance and Gymnastics Next Year

The athletic department of Archway Arete is happy to introduce dance and gymnastics into our curriculum next year.  Coach Steinman and I are developing a curriculum that aligns properly with the classical education.

Gymnastics will also be incorporated into our curriculum next year.  We are proud to be able to purchase some wedges for next year and foam cylinders for back springs. This will be a great unit, and I look forward to teaching this next year!

Football

During our unit of football we have learned how to throw properly.  We have learned four different positions such as the center, quarterback, wide receiver and running back.  We have learned how to snap the ball properly and kick a field goal.  Next week we will run two hand touch scrimmage and I will be making teams.  The kids are having a blast with football and they have absorbed so much!

Handball!

We have begun a new unit of handball.  The students are working really hard at dribbling the ball and defending.  They have learned all of the positions and are working hard at defense, offense and midfield.  Also, goalkeeping has been exceptional.  The kids are having a lot of fun in handball and are getting a great workout from it!!
